TWCC League Rules
WCF Rules
All games will be played to the WCF rules which can be found here – worldcurling.org/rules/, although we do not require “yellow” brush pads and any can be used.
Forfeits
You must have 2 named players from your team for each game otherwise you will forfeit.
Substitutes
Anyone can sub into your team if you are short a player, however they must throw lead or second stones. Substitutes must be members of another league to play or pay a substitute fee and sign a waiver.
Timings
Once the ice is ready, a bell will ring inside the warm room to indicate that players should make their way into the ice hall. We aim for this to be rung 5 minutes before game start, so that players can shake hands and be ready to throw first stones at the designated start time. To help keep games moving smoothly and ensure everyone enjoys a timely finish, a bell will ring 1 hour and 35 minutes into play. When it sounds, simply complete the end you’re in and then play one additional end. After that, no further ends will be played – unless an exciting extra end is required!
Scoring
Monday & Friday Leagues: 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie (no extra ends except for playoff games).
Saturday League: Win/Loss, extra ends for all games if necessary.
Ends
All games are 8 ends, although a team can concede after a minimum of 6 ends. In leagues that are Win/Loss (Saturday League) teams can concede in the middle of an end, and stones will be scored according to WCF rules. However, in leagues that involve ends/shots as tiebreakers (Monday League, Friday League) teams must only concede a game after an end has been completed.
Hammer
Please flip a coin to determine this (except Saturday League which will be based on pre-game LSD, and all playoff games where the higher ranked team will start with hammer).
Tiebreakers
To settle the standings where multiple teams have the same number of points, the first tiebreaker will always be head-to-head (followed by DSC for Saturday League). This will be followed by the total number of ends won between the teams needing a tiebreak, then the total number of shots scored between the teams needing a tiebreak, and then a coin toss if necessary.
Playoffs
In a 7 team league, the playoff format will be as follows:
First Week: 2v3, 4v5, 6v7 (1 has bye to final)
Second Week: 1 v winner of 2v3, loser of 2v3 v winner of 4v5, loser of 4v5 v winner of 6v7 (loser of 6v7 has a bye)
In leagues with another number of teams, the playoff format will be confirmed and communicated to all players at the start of the season.
